Republican Leaders Must Resign

   from Newmax.com:
According to Richard A. Viguerie, the Republican Party must replace its leadersip or conservatives will continue to withhold support and the GOP will face disaster in November.
He is publisher of ConservativeHQ.com and the pioneer of political direct mail.
He says:  Leaders in the White House, the Congress, and the Republican National Committee and its affiliates, along with most Republican leaders at the state level have failed--or outright betrayed--the conservative voters who put them in their positions.
The result is that the Republicn Party's brand has become a negative to an extent greater than in the Watergate era, perhaps even worse than in the days of Herbert Hoover.
     Viguerie made these points:
        * The number of new Republican voters is flat while Democrat voter registration is soaring.

       *  Contributions to Republican candidates and committees are way off, while donations to Democrats are setting records.

*In this year's primaries, votes for GOP candidates at all levels are running behind the Democrats.

*In recent special elections, Republicans lost House seats in Illinois, Louisiana, and Mississippi that had long been in GOP hands--all in districts carried overwhelmingly by President Bush.  A single election can be a fluke, but when Republicans lose three seemingly safe seats in a row disaster is looming.

He says : The hard work of the last 50 years by millions of conservative campaign workers, donors, candidates, writers, intellectuals, and activists has been trashed.
The conservative movement has been set back 10 to 20 years--possibly even permanently--by politicians consumed by power.

He named a number of prominent Republicans, including Pres Bush, Karl Rove, party chairman Mike Duncan, House Minority leader John Boehner, Senate Minority Leader Mitch Mc Connell, former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, and House Minority Whip Roy Blunt.
Some deserve more of the blame than others, but they are all part of an establishment that has brought the Republican Party down.
For things to change, for conservatives to be justified in once again giving our contributions, our volunteer efforts, our energy, and votes to the GOP the party must clean house.  The party leadership should resign immediately.
Republicans are doomed to wander in the political wilderness until the generation of weak-kneed, no-vision-, inarticulate, afraid-of-the-liberal media politicians are replaced with principled conservatives in the mold of Bill Buckley, Barry Goldwater, and Ronald Reagan.

He has this message for the current GOP leadership:  "For the future of the Republican Party, for America, and the cause of freedom.
            GO!!!"
His latest book is "Conservatives Betrayed:  How George W. Bush and Other Big-Government Republicans Hijacked the Conservative Cause.

As you can see I dispensed with most of the quote marks because of laziness .  but this message needs to be broadcast, and sent, and repeated and repeated until it reaches the deaf ears of our "dishonored" leaders.

Idiot Government "Gift"

OK I got my "gift" back from the government (which, as someone wrote today, my grandchildren and their children will be paying back to China in the future) and I am not sending it back!
Husband and I were expressing our disgust with the idea of giving everyone a check when we are so deep in debt and some genius said "Well, why don't you send it back?"   Ha Ha. (in a sarcastic tone)
Why does the govt feel that, every time there is a problem,  they have to jump in and "fix" it??  And why is it that every time they try to "fix" it it gets worse than it was before?

Another example...Spector!!  What is he doing meddling with football?  After the paper came out with an apology for being wrong??  He still wants to "investigate"!!!  Just because the Patriots beat his team??
                                                ******************************
And then the news and columns today are saying (Surprise!)  the Republicans are imploding!  Between an idiot president (and I never thought I would say that about any president since Jimmy Carter!) and an arrogant, spendthrift Congress what the heck did we expect??
Among others I wrote to those bandits in Alaska about the money they have been "stealing" from the rest of the country and I bet they never saw those letters.  And then even the Republicans voted down the bill on cutting out earmarks!!
When the Democrats start pushing through all  the give-away programs they have lined up for the future we will think these days are the halcyon days!
Conservatives are going to have a long wait to have any control and , at the minute, I would not be surprised if that time never came.  The Republicans in charge now are not conservative, anyway and, according to what I read today, the country is going to Democrat or Independent.  Well, let's all go liberal!  If you can't beat 'em, join 'em,  right/??  Sorry, I can't do it.

Acts of Nature??

I have been giving some thought to the terrible things that have been happening in the last few days.  Tornadoes in this country, flooding of the east coast, cyclone in Myanmar, earthquake in China, and , closer to home, fires in Florida.
Now, according to Algore , these must be caused by global warming, right?
Well, my theory is that Mother Nature is having a fit!!  She wants to know why Humans feel they can be responsible for something that only she controls and so she is saying "There!!  Take that!!  I'll show you who makes the climate change on this world and it is not you puny little nothings!!"
  You think maybe???

Nancy Pelosi..Communist??

I just got an email that, if true, is enough to send chills down the spine of any one believing in a democratic republic.
The story is that Nancy Pelosi wants a windfall tax on Retirement Income (tax on all stock  market profits including Retirement funds, 401K, and Mutual Funds) !!
If this is true, it is as close to socialism as it is possible to get.  She wants to raise the standard of living of the illegals and the minority poor and what better way to do it than to take money from people who have worked all their lives, paid their taxes, and expect to reap the fruit of their efforts.
And don't forget, folks, we have a candidate for Pres. who will be happy to go along with that plan!!!  If we don't defeat Obama the country is going to change, all right, but many of us will feel it will not be for the better.

Checking out Michelle

Mark Alexander in the Patriot Post takes a look at Michelle Obama (and Cindy McCain) but let's just look at Michelle for a few minutes.
He says "Michelle Obama will very likely be dictating policy if her husband gets elected."  That's an interesting conclusion and I am not sure how he comes to that.   But if he is right it's a scary thought.
"Michelle majored in sociology and minored in African-American studies at Princeton."  and, in her senior thesis she proclaimed "that her college experience 'made me far more aware of my Blackness.  I will always be Black first.' "  And the capitals are hers.
You know by now that she and Barack were married by the infamous pastor,  that their children were baptized by him, and they attended that church, listening to his sermons for twenty years.  If Barack never heard his pastor say the things that we have heard, we have to wonder if Michelle heard and if she agreed.
"Michelle joined the staff of Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, arguably one of the most corrupt mayoral dynasties in Americah history."
"She says her campaign role ' is to give people yet another slice of who Barack is, making him even more multidimensional.  People want to know not just about policies...but who are you?  What do you believe in?  Can I trust you?' "
"...her 'black first' indoctrination casts a pall over her vision for America.' "
"Like Barack, Michelle builds her stump speeches around the victimization script.   She repeatedly claims that 'America is downright mean' and whines that we are a 'nation of struggling folks who are barely making it every day...Folks are struggling like never before...' "
Since their "principal residence is a fashionable South Side Georgian mansion purchased with the help of  good friend, and local gangster, Tony Rezko"  I am not sure how she sees the "struggling folks" .  The economy , up till recently, was in good shape, employment was high, and many in the middle class were not only NOT disappearing but were moving up.
Mark quotes Yuval Levin, a "fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center"  who says "By her husband's logic, Michelle Obama must be a heavily armed xenophobic religious zealot, because boy is she bitter...In Michelle Obama's America, everybody's suffering, no one has time to make any friends, no one earns enough to eke out a living anymore, and the bar of success is always being moved just out of reach."

so...if we all thought Hillary was a takeover broad, who had too much influence on her husband and made too many decisions, we do think she has a better view of America than this one.  With Michelle's attitude of victim, in spite of the fact that she got an excellent education, a good job, a nice home, a successful (so far) husband  , what kind of First Lady would she make?  My feeling is WATCH OUT!!

U.N. spending money

I just posted that piece on the U.N. and here they go!  They had about 20 people (all with hard hats on that someone paid for) turning over the "first shovel" to open the work of doing over the U.N. building and adding to it.  And guess who is paying the largest part of the money???
Yup, you guessed.     The building is a mess and certainly needs renovating but what a great time it would be to kick them out of the country.   Ah well,  With all the extra money we have we won't even notice the cost.  Right?  Right!

IMPRIMIS

Got my latest issue of Imprimis and it has an adaptation of a speech by John Bolton.  Imprimis is a publication from Hillsdale College and usually has an article by a conservative.  John Bolton was the Rep. to the United Nations that the Democrats tried hard to prevent.
One of the things he talks about is "norming"...."the idea that the U.S. should base its decisions on some kind of international consensus, rather than making its decisions as a constitutional democracy."   A quote from a professor from a major European university: "The problem with the United States is its devotion to its Constitution over international norms."  (That's a problem???)
The U.N. has already decided the question of the death penalty.  In this country we are still debating it and some states feel one way and others the other way.  Members of the U.N. expect our country to go by U.N. rules, not our own.
They have also passed resolutions about gun control and Bolton said  "we were not going to sign on to any international agreement that prohibited private ownership of guns."  The fact that we have a Constitution that precludes any such restriction was treated in the U.N. as "an entirely specious notion.
So... they are perfectly capable of "passing resolutions about the death penalty and gun control" it can't agree to "a definition of terrorism that would enable it to denounce terrorism."
"So in all the areas where the U.N. shouldn't be involved---issues best left to sovereign countries---it is very successful in passing judgment, especially when it can spit in the eye of the U.S.  But in the one area where the U.N. could be of most use in promoting international peace, it has failed completely.  So much for 'norming'."

He goes on to discuss the "oil-for-food scandal",  says it is not a unique incident.  The U.N. Budget Committee rejected an effort to reform by a margin of about two  to one.  The countries voting in favor of these reforms contribute over 90% of the U.N.'s budget...the countries voting against them contribute under 10%.

They tried to reform the U.N. Human Rights Commission.  It was so weakened by the time it got to a vote that the U.S. voted against it.

Bolton doesn't believe we should get out but we should "change the arrangement by which financing of the U.N. is mandatory."  "The United States should pay for what it wants and insist that it get what it pays for."

I have seen signs that some on the Supreme Court think we should go by international law and I thought that was a bad idea then.  And then Kerry seemed to think we should go by some kind of "global test" and that was one reason I thought he would not be a good Pres.
It will be interesting to see if this comes up in the coming campaign.

Beginning of America Part III

Thanks to Wil we have some statistics .  He found them on a U.S. Navy site.
In the Revolutionary War  217,003 served,  6,188 were wounded, and 4,435 died

In the current Iraq confllict  15,000 have served and 4,100 have died.  No number for wounded but it's a lot.

He has given the numbers for all the wars America has fought in and the numbers are enough to make one cry.
All of those Americans have died in the idiotic wars that human fight.
If you wish to see the whole list,  go to the comments on Beginning of America.
I have read science-fiction stories that tried to find better ways for settling disputes.  None of them are much
better.   With all of the aggressiveness and the cruelty and the torture and the greed in the world one has to wonder
what it is all about.

Beginning of America P.S.

Peppermint points out something I didn't think of.  Here in American women didn't get the vote until 1920 while in Iraq women are already voting.

The RNC

The Republican National Committee just called.  The  poor girl never got a chance to tell me what she wanted (it had to be a vote for McCain  or money) because I started by saying I was so disgusted with the Republican party that I could scream.  She said she understood but we needed to get together and I butted in to say I would probably vote for McCain but with my nose held  but that was it and thank you , good bye.
I really feel sorry for these people who are making the calls...I can just imagine the reaction they are getting from conservatives at this time.   From what I have seen and heard I am one of a large group!  Dick Morriss is as much as saying McC is not going to win over the "far-right" so he should be working to get the middle of the road from both sides.  I think he believes there will be plenty of Independents and even some Dems who won't be able to vote for either of the other two idiots.

Beginning of America

Every time I read about someone moaning about the Iraq War still going on I think about the beginning of our country.
The beginning of the break from England was in 1775 .  This was the beginning of an 8 year struggle for independence.
The Articles of Confederation were agreed to by the Continental Congress in 1771.
The Revolution was over with the Treaty of Paris in 1783.
The Constitution was in effect in 1789.
This all happened to people who were used to liberty, had been making their own laws, and running their own business for more than a hundred years.  AND IT STILL TOOK THEM 8 YEARS TO GET FREE...AND 14 YEARS TO GET A CONSTITUTION!!
And they hadn't been under a dictator for 30 years or more.  And they weren't split by sectarian beliefs.  And they didn't have foreign terrorists interfering with the process of becoming a free nation.   AND IT STILL TOOK THEM 8 YEARS.
I can't find out how many were killed.  Wiki wants to know if anyone finds an answer to that.

from "Day by Day"

She:  Obama's freaked by being asked actual questions.
Hillary's so into her lies she's in a different reality.
He:    And McCain thinks of "borders" as a bookshop.

He:  I for one welcome my new pinhead overlords.
She:  Hey Robert Plant came back , huh?

from Mallard Fillmore

   quote from Mallard Fillmore:
The BAD NEWS:  The average American will work from Jan. 1 to Apr. 23 this year to pay federal, state, and local taxes.

WORSE NEWS:   Some people still don't think we pay enough taxes.

WORST NEWS:   At least two of those people are running for President.
