from Mallard Fillmore

Mallard says "The 'Science vs. Religion' debate has heated up again, with evidence of possible global warming on Mars, and now Jupiter, challenging the faith of fundamentalist environmentarians."
Environmenatallist responds, "Shut up!!  Man created Global Warming in seven days!"

Peggy Noonan

Interesting column today...comparing Old America with New America.  I'm biased, of course.  I remember the Old.  As with all seniors through the years, I fear the country is going to the dogs.  I miss the old values.  However... here's the address.http://online.wsj.com/public/article/declarations.html          She has some good suggestions for McCain, also, but I don't think they will help.

Who is Obama?

Tony Blankley has an interesting column today , and the comments are even more interesting.  The range of descriptions of Obama starts with saint, goes to middleof the road, and ends with communist.  Are we talking about one man here?  The conclusion is that we have no idea who this man really is.  The media, as usual with a Democrat, can see only the glamor and will make no effort to investigate, much less explain the strange people Obama has been "friendly" with, the strange things he has said, and the strange things he has done.  All these things are being ignored.  Why?

Oil situation

A lot of folks can't understand why we came to to have an oil shortage and high prices here in our country.  Well, there's a very simple answer.  Nobody bothered to check the oil.
    The reason is purely geographical.
Our oil is located in Alaska, California, Coastal Florida, Coastal Louisiana, Wyoming, Utah, Kansas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
Our dipsticks are located in Washington, D.S.

Any quesstions???   NO?  Didn't think so.

Visit "A Conservative Man"

If you haven't visited A Conservative Man today, drop in to read an excellent compilation of articles on "Climate Change".   One line from one of them (I forget which one, but they are all good) really struck me.
"In the left's refusal to allow us to seek new energy sources they are stunting a nation's economy, they are hurting the average family, and they are starving hungry children."    "And they are proud of the effort."

As I just said in one of my comments,  our problems come from the influence of too many liberals, too many environmentalists, and too many "Girly-men".   The story of Great Britain and its carbon credits was on the radio this morning.  The plan is for each adult to be issued a certain allotment of carbon credits.  Whenever they buy gas or heat their homes or use any other energy they can use their credits.  If they run out before the end of the year they can buy from someone who has credits left over.  If they have extra they can sell them.  But the sale is going through the government!  If that isn't a joke!   What will the percentage that goes to the government amount to?    but the whole thing is such nonsense, of course.

PHOENIX HAS LANDED

Phoenix has landed on Mars...exactly on time...on a flat surface...only half a degree off horizontal.   Now waiting for signal to start its work.  AMAZING

Anti-global warning fans..REJOICE

I thought it was a joke , but it IS cows!!  We are raising too many!!
From a column by Mike Thomas of the Orlando Sentinal:
"Beef...is one of the top three threats facing the entire globe."   "Cows emit a staggering 18 percent of the world's greenhouse gases."
"...there are now more cattle than Chinese."  "..."1.5 billion."
"Cows burp about once ever 40 seconds."  "When you throw in all the toots at the other end, good old Elsie is pumping out about 100 gallons of methane a year...a far more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide."

"All told, the amount of land in some form of cow production equals about 30 percent of the earth's habitable surface"
"The Australians and New Zealanders ...are getting serious about this."  "There have been calls of a carbon tax on cows and red meat, calling it a 'flatulence tax'."
There is a recommendation that Aussies start eating more kangaroo which has, acc . to Scott Joseph , the Sentinal's restaurant critic,
:a distinctly gamey flavor with a texture that is something like liver."
"According to a report by the Cranfield University in England, chicken has the smallest carbon footprint of all meats."  "Next comes pork."

What I'd like to know is what did we ever do before we knew about "carbon footprints"?

KO BO (Keep out B. Obama)

Obama's economic votes and proposals:
Wrong:  support for the obscene farm bill

Wrong:  threat to pull out of NAFTA

Wrong:  Proposal  of a $10 Bill.home closure prevention  fund

Wrong:  Accused McCain of dooming Social Security.

Wrong:  Wants to raise Soc Sec taxes on "upper class"

RIGHT!!  (One out of 5 isn't that good)
Right:  Opposition to gas tax holiday proposed by Clinton and McCain

Conclusion:  He either doesn't understand economics  or he is trying too hard to ingratiate himself  with the middle class voters who feel squeezed.  'Promise everything to everyone and ask for little sacrifice in return."

letter to Congress

I am sending the following letter to my congressmen:
    Dear Senator (or Representative)
I would like to discuss the matter of drilling for oil.
          I believe:
That all federal lands including ANWR should be immediately opened to oil exploration and development.

That all moratoriums on the outer continental shelf should immediately be lifted.

That we should immediately start building nuclear power plants and eliminate the red tape.

That all restrictions and red tape on refinery construction should be immediately lifted.

That all efforts to develop ethanol should be put on the back burner.

And I am not alone!!  I have a blog on Town Hall and if the group of bloggers that I am acquainted with is any indication of conervatives in general (and I believe they are), then the conservatives of this country are disgusted and infuriated with the Congress, and the Republicans in particular, for the lack of gumption, the lack of patriotism, the lack of honor, the lack of allegiance to the people who elected them, and the lack of statesmanship.

I could give you examples but it would take all day!  If you don't know where this Congress is going wrong, it is too late for the country!   SHAME ON YOU!!!

I stole this quote

Anyone discovering the source gets a prize.
"Mr. Obama, why is it acceptable for your wife to trash this country and spout Marxist drivel, but not acceptable for us to notice it?"
"Mr. Obama, why is it acceptable for you to say you will talk with murderous thugs of terrorist regimes who threaten our very lives, but not acceptable for us to notice it and call it what it is."   (Appeasement for those of you who haven't been listening lately)

The one I stole it from cannont claim the prize!!  :-)))   But it was worth repeating here!!

OK you Obama fans

Now I understand!!  He's in Florida and here's what he's promising
       Health care for all Americans

       Cheaper gas

       Jobs returned from overseas

       Better care for veterans

      More money for teachers

More money for the Space Program  (remember...he's in FL)

       More money for Medicaid

       More money for college students

       More money to build roads

Oh, and in his spare time he's going to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I know the Islamic terrorists will breathe a sigh of relief when they hear this.
A columnist in our local liberal rag calls this the biggest  "goody sack" ..."since Franklin Roosevelt"
(I separated the items in that list so you could think about each one in turn.  Otherwise your vision would blur after the first few.)

Cindy McCain

I posted an article on Michelle Obama recently.  So here's the one on Cindy McCain.  Read them both and decide which one you want in the White House.
Cindy graduated from Southern Cal and was a special-needs teacher.
After her dad died she became involved with his beer-distributing firm and is now the chairwoman.  Sales have doubled since she
has taken over.
She and John have a pre-nup agreement,  her assets remain separate.
She is involved around the world clearing land mines...travels with a detonation team to different countries.
She and John have a 19-yr old serving in Iraq, another son in the Naval Academy, a daughter recently graduated from Columbia, an adopted daughter in high school and a son who is finance officer in the beer firm.
She raised the kids in Phoenix AZ rather than in D.C. for a better atmosphere.  He commuted.
In 1991 she came across a girl with a cleft palate in an orphanage in Bangladesh.  Mother Teresa implored her to take the child which she did without telling her husband.  They adopted the girl and paid for a dozen operations to repair her cleft palate among other medical problems.
They have a Family Foundation for children's causes.
She is active with "Halo Trust"..to clear landmines , provide water and food in war-ravaged and developing countrie.
She will join an overseas mission of "Operation Smile" , a charity for corrective surgery on children's faces.
She has had two back surgeries and became addicted to pain killers.  She talks openly about it which she says is part of the recovery process.
The media is very quiet about her attributes, but she sounds much more capable of being a First Lady to be proud of than either Hillary or Michelle.
If you are not convinced , scroll back and read the piece on Michelle again.
Thank you for thinking seriously about this.

Links to Think About

I KNOW you can't stand McCain.  Who of us can?  But let's work for 2012 and meanwhile please read the following link:

and then see this one:    America's Best Days Behind Us?

We have one necessary goal in this election!  Keep Obama out!!  The damage he can do to the country in 4 years will last for not only years but for generations!!  There is only one way!  No matter how much we dislike the candidate we have the future of the country is more important.
I put in a post about Michelle a short time ago.  Now I am going to put one in about Cindy McCain and if you don't see the difference between those two you are blind!

Prager and Tyrrell

Dennis Prager says "Forty years of left-wing control of the news media, of Hollywood, of the public schools, of the universities and of nearly every big city government have nearly ruined those institutions."

Emmett Tyrrell says:  ...the moron vote.  It is a constituency composed of politically ingnorant citizens who nonetheless feel very intensely about political issues once their respective demogogues have notified them of the issues, suitably transmogrified....Some might be marine biologists or interior decorators or professors of romance languages, and in their chosen field they might be very knowledgeable.  Yet when it comes to politics they are in the dark."

These two quotes explain why we have the government we do and why we have the candidates we have this year.  And someone tells me if we just keep on telling our story, if we just keep on preaching, if we just persist in trying to make people understand the conservative ideas, we can make a difference.   I want to believe.
